Why do you keep getting back pain?

Research has discovered that certain deep muscles around your abdomen and lower back (Transversus Abdominis and Multifidus) need to contract to support your spine when you are standing, sitting and walking.

The bad news is that these muscles turn off every time you suffer back pain and don’t automatically turn on again unless you specifically train them. This leaves your back at risk of further injury and pain.

At the Brighton Physiotherapy Clinic we can now help you to retrain those deep muscles in your abdomen and lower back. We use an Ultrasound scanner so you can see the muscles working on a screen. The advantage of this is if they are not working, we can teach you the right exercises to do to make them work immediately, and you will be able to see this on the screen.

Following your initial assessment with the Ultrasound scanner, you will be provided with the correct exercises to practice at home. Future assessments show and measure the improvements in the muscles. We can also use the scanner to assess a variety of other muscle and tendon problems.
