Acupuncture at
this clinic is only practised by physiotherapists who are
trained to use the strictest hygienic and safe techniques.
Only sterile disposable needles are used.
What is involved?
You will first be assessed using a detailed examination
process. The acupuncture treatment involves positioning
the body so you are comfortable, the area to be treated
is then wiped with an alcohol swab. Fine needles are then
inserted which is usually not uncomfortable at all. The
needles are then gently rotated which stimulates the flow
of 'Qi'. At this point most patients experience a warmth,
tingle or slight ache in the region of the needle. A typical
treatment lasts for 20 minutes, with stimulation of the
needles every 5 minutes. After 20 minutes the needles are
painlessly removed and disposed of.
Research has shown that 70% of people
gain relief from pain with acupuncture, and frequently good
results are achieved when more conventional methods have
failed.
